Project SignChat

SIGN CHAT

SIGN CHAT© is a phone application designed to bridge the communication gap between hearing individuals and the Deaf-Mute community by translating written natural languages like English into American Sign Language (ASL) gestures, and vice versa. With over 5% of the world’s population experiencing disabling hearing loss and 63% of Deaf-Mutes being born deaf, the app addresses a critical shortage of accessible communication. The complexity of Sign Languages, such as ASL, varies between regions, with each country often having its own distinct version, making universal translation a challenge.

Developed using Gdscript, a Python-like language, SIGN CHAT© is a small-budget application with big ambitions. As technology advances and modern apps grow in popularity, this tool leverages these trends to make communication smoother and more inclusive for the Deaf-Mute community. The translation process ensures accurate representation of ASL while allowing for the inclusion of gestures from different regions, making it adaptable for a wide user base.

Despite its early stages, the continuity of development is essential for SIGN CHAT©'s growth, ensuring it can evolve as more complex features are added to cater to diverse needs. The ongoing expansion in mobile technologies and communication platforms sets the stage for applications like this to thrive and connect more people across linguistic barriers.
